"Freediving Summer School" - Kalymnos, Greece

Learn to FreeDive on the incredible island of Kalymnos
For beginner, intermediate and advanced freedivers, the Freediving Summer
School in Kalymnos, Greece is an unbelievable introduction to the sport and
continued development for those with some freediving or spearfishing experience.
Led by world class Instructor Trainer, Emma Farrell, and her team of AIDA instructors,
the courses cover pool work, classroom theory, open water diving, and recreational
freediving at wrecks and volcano craters. Not only is there incredible diving
and tuition on offer, but Emma will also take you on trips to explore the stunning
geography and history of the ‘sponge diver’s island’, and
there will be the chance for you to not only dive for treasure, but try the
ancient freediving method of ‘Skandalopetra’!
The Course
Courses run between 6th
July and 19th July 2008 and there are a number of options available to you:
- Beginners Course (AIDA */**) (3 ½ days)
- Beginners Course (AIDA */**) with Additional Training Days and Trips (7 days)
- Intermediate Course (AIDA ***) (5 days)
- Intermediate Course (AIDA ***) with Additional Training Days and Trips (7 days)
- Beginners and Intermediate Course (AIDA */** + ***) (9 days)
- Advanced Course (AIDA ****) (7 days)
- Advanced Course (AIDA ****) with Additional Training Days and Trips (14 days)
- Intermediate and Advanced Course (AIDA *** + ****) (12 days)
- Intermediate and Advanced Course (AIDA *** + ****) with Additional Training days and trips (14 days)
- AIDA Instructor Course (8 days)
- Advanced and Instructor Course (AIDA **** + Instructor) (14 days)
- Week of training and trips but no qualification (AIDA *** freedivers and higher) (7 days)
- Two weeks of training and trips but no qualification (AIDA *** freedivers and higher) (14 days)
At the end of the course students will qualify with an AIDA (International
Association for the Development of Apnea) qualification depending
on performance during the course.

Flights
Flights and accommodation are not included in the package; however our courses
are timed to coincide with major Airlines from the UK to Kos. More information
about traveling to Kalmynos is in the FAQ. We have also negotiated a discount
with the Hotel Kandouni Beach where the summer school is based, with studios
sleeping up to three people starting from 35 euros per night. When you book
on the course we will be able to send you information on how to access this
offer. We would urge you to book flights and accommodation ASAP as this is
peak holiday season and they will book up fast!
What are the performance requirements and prerequisites?
There are some minimum requirements for people to attend this course. These
are listed below:

• Static Apnea- 1 minute 15 seconds
• Dynamic Apnea- 25 metres
- Performance Requirements- Open water
• Constant Weight- 8 metres
• Rescue on the surface
• Buddy from 8 metres
- AIDA ** Freediver Qualification
- Prerequisites
• Be 16 years of age or older
• Be able to swim at least 200m non stop without fins and at least 300m
non stop with mask, fins and snorkel
- Knowledge development
• Classroom session
• Exam- pass mark 75%
- Performance Requirements- Pool sessions
• Static Apnea- 2 minutes
• Dynamic Apnea- 40 metres
- Performance Requirements- Open Water
• Constant weight 16m
• Rescue from 10m
• Buddying from 10 metres
- AIDA *** Freediver Qualification
- Prerequisites
• Be 16 years of age or older
• Have completed an AIDA ** course or equivalent
- AIDA **** Freediver Qualification
- Prerequisites
• Be 16 years of age or older
• Have completed an AIDA *** course or equivalent and a first aid/CPR course
(this can be arranged as part of the 4 star course)

Course costing depend on which option you choose:

- Beginners Course (AIDA */**) with Additional Training Days and Trips (7 days) = 499 GBP (6th- 12th & 13th- 19th)
- Intermediate Course (AIDA ***) (5 days) = 399 GBP (6th- 10th & 11th – 14th & 13th – 17th)
- Intermediate Course (AIDA ***) with Additional Training Days and Trips (7 days) = 549 GBP (6th- 12th & 13th- 19th)
- Beginners and Intermediate Course (AIDA */** + ***) (9 days) = 599 GBP (6th- 14th)
- Advanced Course (AIDA ****) (7 days) = 599 GBP (6th- 12th & 13th – 19th )
- Advanced Course (AIDA ****) with Additional Training Days and Trips (14 days) = 899 GBP (6th- 19th)
- Intermediate and Advanced Course (AIDA *** + ****) (12 days) = 799 GBP (6th-10th followed by 13th- 19th)
- Intermediate and Advanced Course (AIDA *** + ****) with Additional Training days and trips (14 days) = 899 GBP (6th- 19th)
- AIDA Instructor Course (8 days) = 1,199 GBP (12th- 19th)
- Advanced and Instructor Course (AIDA **** + Instructor) (14 days) = 1,499 GBP (6th- 19th)
- Week of training and trips but no qualification (AIDA *** freedivers and higher) (7 days) = 399 GBP (6th- 12th & 13th- 19th)
- Two weeks of training and trips but no qualification (AIDA *** freedivers and higher) (14 days) = 749 GBP (6th- 19th)
You can upgrade to the next level at any point before or during the course
and only pay the difference.
