“Berlin-based netWalk Internet Solutions this month debuts a free online Emergency Pass service for international travelers and citizens from all countries.

Individuals enter their vital health information online into a medical database that can be accessed by physicians or hospital staff in the event of an accident anywhere in the world. Individuals can record medications they may be taking, note allergies to any drugs, mention chronic illnesses as well as list family and medical contacts.

The online Emergency Pass is the brainchild of Detlef von Hellfeld, 51, an Internet pioneer who travels extensively and noticed there was nothing like the service in his home country. “”I’ve traveled a lot in my life and know how uncomfortable one can be if they are ill in a foreign country. I felt the Emergency Pass service would be a practical use of technology that could put travelers at ease.”"
