After more than 20mins holding his breath underwater, 26 year old Brazilian Ricardo da Gama Bahia, enters into Guinness World Records for the “longest time holding the breath underwater”.
After breathing with pure oxygen for 20mins, Bahia managed to set the new record of 20mins 21secs, beating the previous record from the Danish Stig Severinsen.
The feat was just officially recognized by the Guinness World Records.
“A world record represents a paradigm, the line that separates the possible from the impossible. To break this barrier, beside my self-belief, I had to believe in the capacity of the human species.” said the record holder.

Whilst this record is not ratified by any of the recognised Freediving Agencies there have been a recent number of O2 assisted Static Apnea attempts as the spectacular breath-hold times attract the mainstream media.
