1st Annual California Cup Freediving Competition

The California Cup held it’s first annual freediving competition at the Culver City Plunge pool this past weekend. Event organizers Ben Weiss, Chiara Mazzasette and Vanessa Weinberg hosted 12 athletes of all levels to offer their personal best performances in the pool disciplines of static apnea, dynamic no-fins, and dynamic with fins. Taking home the gold overall were former US national record holders Jenna McGrath and Kevin Busscher, with international divers Lena Jovanovic Balta of Serbia and Rene Hallen of Germany placing second, and Los Angeles residents Chiara Mazzasette and Ben Weiss both scooping up bronze.

A new national record in DNF was set by Claire Paris.
