2002 US Freediving Team Trials

Who: U.S. Freediving Team — Apnea USA sponsored by AIDA-USA.

Who is eligible: Applicants may be Men or Women, 18 yrs. and older. Applicants must be U.S. citizens.

What: Trials for first round are pool based and include Static and Dynamic Apnea. The U.S. trials will be held in (4) locations (see details below).

The final selection round of the trials will be held in Monterey, Ca. during the month of September (date will be announced by June 20, 2002) Note: only candidates selected from the first round will be eligible to attend the final round for team selection.

When: During the month of August 2002 at the following locations:

San Diego, California Saturday, August 3rd

Key Largo, Florida Saturday, August 10th

Newport, Rhode Island Sunday, August 11th

Honolulu, Hawaii Sunday, August 24th

Times: Start times will be no later than 9:00 a.m. with completion time no later than 2:00 p.m.

Locations: Exact location for the trials within the above mentioned cities will be confirmed no later than June 20, 2002. Location within each city is subject to change based on number of applicants.

Format: The trials are pool based with general rules available for both Static Apnea and Dynamic apnea at .

Costs: Application fee is $30.00 to attend the trials. This will be fully refunded if applicant is not accepted to attend the trials. Checks can be made to AIDA USA.

Membership: Applicants must be members of AIDA-USA to apply for the Trials. Membership applications are available at

Note: Minimum cost for basic membership is $25.00.

Due Dates: All applications are due (postmarked if mailed) by 20 July 2002. Applications can be submitted by fax or mail.
