9th Edition of the Caribbean Cup Freediving Competition Kicks Off

One of the major freediving competitions of the yearly calendar is upon us – the 9th edition of the Caribbean Cup Freediving Competition kicks off today in Roatan, Honduras.

Athletes, judges, safeties, and organizers all gathered for the opening ceremony yesterday and briefing on what to expect from this year’s competition.

As usual, the competition is being held and sponsored by the Mayan Princess Beach & Dive Resort and is a World Record status event so we should be expecting to see some fantastic new records falling over the next week.

Competitors will be competing for top spots in Constant Weight (CWT), Constant Weight No Fins (CNF), Free Immersion (FIM), and Constant Weight Bi-Fins (CWTBF) disciplines.

Organizers have issued a start list for Day 1 and it shows no less than 2 x World Record attempts by Alessia Zecchini (Italy) and Arnaud Jerald (France), 1 x Continental Record attempt and 6 x National Record attempts.
