AIDA Launches New Freedive Instructor Manual

AIDA (the International Association for the Development of Apnea) have just announced the first ever AIDA FreeDiving Instructor Manual.

The AIDA Freedive Instructor Manual has been put together over several years by Samantha Kirby, AIDA Education and Training Officer and the AIDA Education Workgroup – a group of experienced AIDA Freedive Instructors.

In the first edition of the Manual, AIDA Instructors will find full outlines and presentation materials to aid them as they teach the AIDA *, ** and *** Courses, the AIDA Deep Tank Course and the AIDA Monofin Pool Course.   Items in progress for the 2007 manual include the AIDA **** Course and Specialty Courses “Competition Freediver” and “Safety Freediver”.

The manual also includes full details on how to run the administration of AIDA Courses including the paperwork required to protect the AIDA Instructor from liability, correct certification procedures and how to transfer students between instructors.

This brings a new standard for AIDA Education that helps provide an international baseline for all students being taught under the AIDA system.

The AIDA Instructor Manual will be distributed free of charge on a CD ROM to all AIDA Instructors who renew their Active Status with AIDA for 2006.  For more information on the Manual, on AIDA Freedive Training or becoming an AIDA Freedive Instructor, please contact Sam Kirby at AIDA (sam.kirby@aida-international.org ) for further details.
