Spetses, Greece August 27, 2004 – Alki David has announced that between 10th – 12th September 2004, four (4) World Record attempts will be made by World Champion freedivers Martin Stepanek of the Czech Republic, Herbert Nitsch from Austria and Fred Buyle of Belgium on the Greek island of Spetses.
Divers will attempt depths as deep as 130 meters (429 feet) and return to the surface on a single breath of air to break existing world records in the CONSTANT WEIGHT, FREE IMMERSION, CONSTANT WEIGHT WITHOUT FINS and VARIABLE
WEIGHT categories.
Teams of safety divers and underwater camera operators will ensure maximum safety of the divers as well as cover the event for the media.
AIDA, the sport’s governing body will officiate the dives.
On the evening of 10th Sept. , BIOS will present the world premiere of the feature film THE FREEDIVER starring Alki David, Dominique Swain, Camilla Rutherford, James Fox, Adam Baldwin and Judd Nelson.
