,"Bonaire's ""Great American Fish Count"""

“If you’re going to be on Bonaire anytime during July you might be interested in participating in the local version of the Great American Fish Count. The GAFC is an annual North American event coordinatedby REEF (www.reef.org) and supported by the National
Marine Sanctuary Program and many other organizations. The GAFC’s mission is to: educate; raise awareness about fish populations and the marine environment; generate information regarding trends in fish populations; and encourage the participation and involvement of
divers and snorkelers in ongoing fish monitoring.

You can participate by attending free fish identification seminars and then filling out the REEF survey forms after your dives. The forms will be distributed and collected by the local event organizers. GAFC participants are eligible for some awesome prizes, including dive trips.

For more details and a seminar schedule see http://www.fishcount.org
