Alexey Molchanov Sets New Constant Weight Freediving World Record

We have breaking news from Deans Blue Hole in the Bahamas and the OriginECN Vertical Blue Freediving Competition where Russian freediver Alexey Molchanov has set a new Freediving World Record of 130m in Constant Weight (CWT).  The record was set under AIDA International rules.

The first of several expected World Records during the competition, this extends the current record of 129m, also held by Molchanov, who set it during the 2017 edition of Vertical Blue.

Alexey had this to say to DeeperBlue.com:

“Today’s dive is an important milestone for freediving so for me it meant some added nerves.  Although I knew I am physically ready to do it, it was just about mental focus and I am happy I did well!”

Molchanov will now go through WADA Anti-Doping tests and all footage will be reviewed by the judges later today.  Once both those things are completed the record will be made official.
