C4 Launch New “Hypertech” Carbon Fiber Fins

Italian equipment manufacturer C4 has just launched a new line of carbon fiber called Hypertech at the EUDI Diving Show in Italy.  This line will be their top of the line range and will add to their other ranges of fins – the Performance, the Plastic, the Stepanek and the Skorpio.

Initially two news models will be available – the Mustang-HT and the HT-83, which can be seen in pictures below and over time they intend to introduce other new fins in this range of fins.

It’s more than a year and a half that I’m working on the project HyperTech, with the aim to reduce the absorption of energy in carbon fins. It was not easy to find ways to improve the use of fibers in traditional fabrics, there are insurmountable limits and there is no “magic” that allows it. I worked on the mechanics of the layers of fibers, reducing the ripple of the fibers that all the fabrics have, due to the intersection between the warp and weft. This amazing new fabric “Big Square” is made with carbon HT (High Tensile) TR50 Mitsubishi. Those are strips of unidirectional carbon fiber from 25mm (1 “inch) superimposed on one another. It ‘easy to understand that fewer crossings means fibers more straight, this guarantee a very good work with minimal absorption of energy – said C4 founder Marco Bonfanti

Pricing is still being finalized and a new revamped website is being launched today to show off the new lines of fins.  You can find out more at www.c4carbon.com.
