Carlos Coste Fails In His First Record Attempt

In his first attempt at a world record atthe event "Challenge in The Abyss 2003", Venezuelan freediver Carlos Coste was unsuccessful in setting a new world record in the discipline of constant weight without fins. He suffered a blackout just a few meters from the surface.

After arriving to the -60 mts of depth, Carlos could not return to the surface in good state and he had to be rescued in the water by his team partner and safety freediver, Néstor Aparcedo.

However, Carlos is optimistic in his quest for new world records and he will try again to set the world mark next Sunday, the 28th of September.

Meanwhile, Danish freediver Stig Severinsen will be looking for the new world record of static apnea on Friday, 26th of September.
