Casio’s Latest G-SHOCK Watch Now Has A Depth Sensor

If you’re the kind of diver who spends a lot of time on the water — and not just under it — the folks at Casio who make the G-SHOCK line of watches recently released a timepiece that now includes a depth sensor.

In addition to the atmospherics pressure sensor, thermometer and electronic compass, Casio’s latest G-SHOCK Gulfmaster GWN-Q1000 model now has a depth sensor.

While at sea, the naked eye might too late recognize changes in the weather, making the sensors on the GWN-Q1000 an essential crewmember.

Information from the four sensor modes, as well as sudden atmospheric changes and a tide graph showing low and high tide information, are indicated on the inset dial at the 5 o’clock position. A dual coil motor enables a retrograde movement to display the information, for ease of recognition.

Waterproof down to 200 meters/656 feet, the watch case is made from carbon fiber materials for superior rigidity. The button casings use metal pipes for high durability and enhanced water resistance, and the sapphire crystal glass features a non-reflective coating to reduce glare.

Additionally, the shock-absorbent back cover and watchband are made of soft urethane for better comfort on the wrist.

The solar-cell-power-operated GWN-Q1000 retails for £700/US$851/781 Euros. For more information, check out the G-SHOCK website.
