Coral Reef Malaise Exaggerated

A recent (U.S.) National Science Foundation study titled "Impacts of Ocean Acidification on Coral Reefs" has been widely and uncritically cited in the media as further confirmation that corals reefs are in dire, perhaps terminal condition. A more careful reading of this study, however, has shown it to contain significant errors which, accepted and repeated in the mass media and in university grant requests, are painting a more dismal picture than is warranted by the facts.
