Weekend Dive Event To Showcase Diving With A Disability

Just because a person has some form of physical disability shouldn’t mean that scuba diving is out of the question.

The Cody Unser First Step Foundation (CUFSF) this weekend will be heading from Albuquerque, New Mexico to Baltimore, Maryland to begin PADI Open Water Certification training for physical and occupational therapists from the Kennedy Krieger Institute’s International Center for Spinal Cord Injury.

The volunteer team will include Foundation founder Cody Unser, daughter of racing legend Al Unser Jr., and the objective of the weekend is to show that patients with spinal cord injuries can achieve anything. The event also aims to better include and open up the world of scuba diving to medical professionals.

The event will take place at the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore (Creamer Family Building, Greenspring Campus, 3901 Greenspring Avenue).

During the day, there will be two sessions that run from 9 AM to 5PM:

  • Discover SCUBA Event – 9:00 AM-2:00 PM
  • CUFSF PADI Open Water Training of Therapists from Kennedy Krieger – 2:00 PM-5:00 PM
