DAN Standardizes Global First Aid Training Programs

The Divers Alert Network has announced that over the next six months, instructors in the Asia Pacific region will have the chance to take part in workshops to maintain their active teaching status.

The workshops aim to ensure that instructors have access to all the latest training resources and materials.

The move is part of a bigger picture of standardizing DAN’s first aid programs across the globe. The first step was a bridging workshop for instructor trainers conducted in Melbourne, Australia by DAN Director of Training Patty Seery. The workshop featured instructor trainers from Australia, New Zealand, and Hong Kong.

Commenting on the workshop, participant Scott Jamieson, DAN’s Asia-Pacific regional manager, stated:

“The e-learning platform is great — it will be a saviour for instructors in this region who have previously had to pay high customs duties on materials….They will no longer have to stockpile supplies for courses that may not ever happen or put students on hold for weeks while waiting for hard-copy materials to arrive. Overall, the trainers who attended left the program feeling quite positive and excited about the opportunities that will be forthcoming under this new system.”
