Deepspot Challenge Diving Competition Announced

-

The Deepspot Challenge freediving competition has been announced, and will take place on August 5-7, 2021, at the Deepspot pool in Mszczonow, Poland.

Deepspot is the deepest freediving pool in the world, reaching 45.45m/~149.1ft.

The competition dives will take an unusual format, with contestants following the following steps:

  1. Divers descend to the target depth using any technique, FIM, CWT, CNF, without weights.
  2. Divers ascend to a depth no deeper than 2m/~6.5ft.
  3. The dive continues as a static, with the divers with the longest dive time crowned the winner.

The competition will feature both professionals and nonprofessionals. The target depth for professionals is 44m/~144ft and 20m/~65ft.

The male and female professional competition winners will each receive a prize of €1,500/~US$1,788/~£1,288.

The competition guest of honor will be Herbert Nitsch, who will give a lecture on August 6th, 2021, titled “Back from the Abyss,” followed by a Q&A session.
