The First Annual DEEP Indonesia International Underwater Photo Competition in association with DivePhotoGuide.com and Wetpixel.com is offering over $20,000 in prizes. On the heels of the popular Our World Underwater competition, Wetpixel and DivePhotoGuide have organized a second international competition in association with DEEP Indonesia, Indonesia’s first ever diving, adventure travel and water sports expo.
Never before have two international competitions been associated with dive expos on opposite sides of the world cooperated to establish a complimentary series of categories and prizing opportunities.
Photographers will compete in seven themed categories to win photo equipment, dive gear, premium dive travel packages to some of the top photo destinations in the world, and more. Dive packages include trips to Wakatobi, South Africa, Vietnam, Malaysia, Bali, Palau , Philippines, Grand Cayman and the Red Sea. The contest includes a category for images that focus on conservation and the marine environment, one specifically for entries taken with compact digital cameras, and one specifically for Indonesian entrants.

Esteemed judges Eric Cheng (Wetpixel), Berkeley White (Backscatter), and David Espinosa (Scuba Diver AustralAsia) will select winners after the January 7, 2007 deadline. Winners will be announced online and displayed during the DEEP Indonesia Expo in Jakarta, Indonesia February 8-11, 2007.
15% of entry proceeds will be donated to marine conservation efforts.
