TUSA has introduced a new buoyancy compensator jacket at DEMA 2012 in Las Vegas.
The BCJ-8000 X-Wing rear-inflation BC jacket features the Independent Harness System as well as the Ultimate Stabilizing Harness. One works inside to help with fit and comfort and the other works to stabilize the tank, according to a TUSA executive.
The jacket also features a new, second-generation integrated weight pocket system dubbed the A.W.L.S. II that incorporates an updated ergonomic handle grip and quick-lock feature. The weight cartridges can be easily released by turning the handle grip vertically 90 degrees in either direction.
“We’ll integrate [A.W.L.S. II] into other jackets as we move forward,” the TUSA exec told DeeperBlue.com.
The 8000 model also also comes with a removable mesh pocket that can be positioned on top of the main pocket, underneath and on both left and right sides. Additionally, it features knife grommets on each side and has the Active Purge Assist system, an updated overpressure exhaust valve.
“It’s a little bit of an inflator on steroids, if you will,” the TUSA exec said. “It’s a pneumatically assisted [valve] so that it allows almost like a full dump in a quick fashion.”
The Small- and Medium-sized jackets have a 30-pound lift, while the Large and XL sizes have a 40-pounds lift, according to the company exec.
The X-Wing BC jacket also features a redesigned chest strap that can be slid up and down for a customizable fit.
The BCJ-8000 X-Wing will retail for $629, and should be available in January or February 2013, according to TUSA.
