Until just recently, the ability to take photographic images underwater without film was just a wild dream, but with the recent explosion of small, high quality all-digital still cameras this dream is now a reality.
The ability to shoot video underwater has been in use for a number of years but with the introduction of the extremely small and ultra high quality mini DV cameras this landscape has also changed drastically. In addition, the desktop computer revolution has made the "digital darkroom" and nonlinear computer video editing available to almost anyone. With this in mind, and with the tremendous interest in both digital stills and digital video, the Aggressor Fleet feel that there is now a place for the "Underwater Digital Specialty" course.
OBJECTIVE:
The purpose of this course is to give the students a complete overview of digital still and / or digital video cameras, housings, lighting, exposure, storage, computer editing, and still image manipulation. At the end of this course students will be able to use a digital still and / or video camera underwater; transfer images to a computer; print an image (digital stills) or edit a one minute video (digital video).
SUMMARY:
At the end of this course the students will have a complete working knowledge of digital still and video cameras. They will complete a short 1-2 minute video or a 3-5 print portfolio of underwater images at the end of the course. They will have both the knowledge and experience to continue their digital still or video projects.
