In recent weeks, several large dive equipment manufacturers have elected not to attend the Dive Equipment Manufacturers Association, also known as DEMA, Trade Show being held in Houston, Texas later this year.
This has caused speculation that the industry or the show is not doing as well as many had thought and as such is raising concerns about the viability of the worlds largest dive equipment trade show.
Since the industry is directly linked to the various dive certification agencies that affiliate themselves with DEMA, there has been a cooperative coming together by these entities to stand by the trade show with their support by promoting the show to their trained members.
"Each organization will be conducting retailer and resort education and training programs and will have the same or greater level of commitment to the DEMA Show as in 2003". As stated in a recent press release made available today to the dive public.
"While we may all be strong competitors in the marketplace, we’ve put agency partisanship away to support the DEMA show."
This coming together was agreed upon by the following:
Dave Scoggins CEO, IDEA
Jim Bram President, NAUI
Bob Coleman Executive Vice President, PADI
Brian Carney President & CEO, SDI/TDI/ERDI
Doug McNeese Executive Director, SSI
