Divers Behaving Badly

Actor Martin Clunes, star of British comedyseries “Men Behaving Badly” apparently defied death while diving for a new TVseries.  The star, an experienced scubadiver, suffered breathing difficulties and had to be rescued.  The details of how the accident happened arenot clear, however 47 year old Clunes has vowed never to dive in British watersagain, saying that it was one of the worst moments of his life.

According to British press reports he says “Iknew I had to try to breathe normally but I was panicking and all I wanted todo was cry. Your instinct is to scrabble and get back to the surface as fast asyou can which is the worst thing you can do because you get the bends. Butluckily there was somebody on hand, and they very slowly pulled me up. It wasghastly and it put me off diving.”

Clunes was apparently diving on a steamboat wreck nearthe Isle of Islay in the Inner Hebrides during the making of Islands of Britainfor ITV1.

The drama will be shown as part of thethree-part series starting on May 3.
