DEMA Show is the place where dive destinations and dive travel buyers can meet and arrange future dive trips. Most of the buyers are USA-based, a mix of travel companies and dive centers planning next year’s special events. The sellers come from all over the world, with most of them being from Asia and the Caribbean. However, U.S. travel destinations are also present and one of the leading destinations is the Florida Keys.
For many American divers, the Keys offer the opportunity to dive tropical waters without the concerns of international travel. I talked to a number of the dive centers that were present at the show. The key question I asked was, “How is the diving after the recent bad storms?” Each of them said that the dive sites had little or no impact and tourism overall is as it was.
