The winner of the first Ocean Science Leadership Program has been announced by the Georgia Aquarium and Aggressor Adventures.
The winner is Krissie Pettit, who graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Texas A&M University.
Chosen from an outstanding field of candidates, Pettit is interning at Riverbanks Zoo and Garden in Columbia, South Carolina. She will also have the opportunity to experience a seven-day trip to Belize aboard an Aggressor Adventures liveaboard. On the trip, she will have the opportunity to work towards advanced scuba certification.
Commenting on the first winner, Dr. Alistair Dove, the vice president of science and education at Georgia Aquarium, stated:
“Our partnership with Aggressor Adventures through the Ocean Science Leadership Program is a real example of our mission in action. We want to be a valuable educational resource for budding aquatic researchers and provide them with hands-on experiences with the ocean and Aquarium researchers through Aggressor’s world-renowned liveaboard charters.”
