GoPro to discontinue entry-level HERO, HERO+ camera line

GoPro will no longer be making the HERO, HERO+ camera line.

If you’re in the market for GoPro’s basic, entry-level HERO or HERO+ digital cameras, better get them soon.

The company announced this week it would stop manufacturing the HERO and HERO+ cameras “to simplify GoPro’s product offering to consist of HERO4 Black, HERO4 Silver, and HERO4 Session.”

The basic HERO camera retails for US$129.99/116.10 Euros, features 1080p30 and 720p60 video, five-megapixel photos up to five frames per second, QuikCapture, SuperView and Auto Low Light.

The HERO+ camera retails for $US199.99/178.63 Euros and can shoot 1080p60 video and eight-megapixel photos. It also has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for access to the GoPro App and Smart Remote.

Both cameras are waterproof to 131 feet/40 meters.
