Hammerhead Spearguns has long been an innovator in spearfishing technology, with a reputation for building hard-hitting, super-accurate spearguns. Equipping spearos with the tools needed to bring the big ones in, Hammerhead offers a solid line of wetsuits, masks, and fins to give the dedicated spearo the competitive edge.
The Technical Mask (MV) line from Hammerhead all features APEX Lens Technology, which increases light transmission over the standard tempered glass by 13%, according to Hammerhead founder Kevin Sakuda, who spoke with DeeperBlue.com at The Blue Wild Expo in Ft. Lauderdale.
Manufactured in a process that eliminates iron oxide impurities, the lenses are able to transmit almost all the light available for a sharper, less distorted and more “true-to-life” view. The use of optical grade lenses, technical coatings, and design innovations lead to a maximum field of view in low-volume masks in the MV Series.
From the MV Action, with integrated GoPro mount, to the ultra-low-volume MV3, the comfort fit MV6 and the MV4 low-volume mask, Hammerhead offers a solution for all levels of freedivers and spearos. All MV Series masks are equipped with soft skirts, a near-custom fit, minimalist frames, push-button buckles and a narrow strap that incorporates a stretchy, split headband.
A key feature of these masks are the three coatings available on ALL the masks in the series. APEX w/ Amber lenses add contrast to objects underwater, making them the ideal choice for low-light, low-viz situations. APEX w/ARC coating increases light transmission by an additional 5%, making this ideal for deep water and photography. The APEX w/Mirror finish protects from glare and is best suited for underwater hunting. All the masks can be found with no additional coating for general use as well.
