Hurricane Dean about to hit Cayman Islands

TORONTO, Aug. 18 /CNW/ – The Cayman Islands continue to be under a Hurricane Watch, and it is expected that within the next 48 hours, Hurricane Dean will pass directly over the Cayman Islands as a Category 4. At this stage, the country has fully mobilized its preparedness plans.

On Friday, August 17, 2007 at 7:00 PM (EDT), The National Hurricane Committee of the Cayman Islands issued a restriction on all visitors entering the Cayman Islands. Only returning residents, work permit holders and Caymanians will be allowed entry to the Cayman Islands. This restriction will remain in place until further notice is given.

Cayman Airways, Delta Airlines and American Airlines have added additional flights to facilitate the voluntary early departure of visitors.  Canadians with plans to visit the Cayman Islands should contact their local travel agent or airline for updates.
