This year the MARES / SSI / rEvo Dive Expedition Team was founded, a team which seeks to act as a think tank for developing and testing products and services under extreme conditions as well as exchanging ideas and experiences in order to bring divers the best.

For their first mission, a team of seven intrepid divers took to Lake Baikal, Siberia, from February 14th – 22nd, for some extreme, under-ice diving. Mares has spent several decades developing products, especially regulators, that can work in such extreme conditions, and the dive expedition was the time to put them to the test like never before! This region is known for its extremely dry, cold winter with ice which is between 1 – 10m thick and temperatures reaching 0°C in the water and as low as -35°C out of it!
The team recorded all the excitement of their 10-day trip on the Mares blog and will soon be posting reviews of all the products used.
If you’re excited to find out more, catch up with all the latest on the Mares blog, and stay tuned to hear all about plans for their next trip, this time for some deep diving in much warmer climes!
