International Argo Program Hits 3 Million Measurement Milestone

The International Argo Program recently hit a big milestone, having taken more than 3 million measurements of the ocean since the effort’s establishment in 1999.

The program maintains a global array of about 3,800 floats that measure pressure, temperature and salinity of the upper 2,000 meters (1.2 miles) of the ocean.
