Is your Mouthpiece hazardous

-

“A study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine claims that many standard design scuba mouthpieces are potentially hazardous.
The Study done by the Newcastle and Dundee Dental Schools points to the fact that little has changed in forty years of design and that the use of these mouthpieces could result in vertigo and disorientation.

The study compared standard mouthpieces to customised designs and found that the standard mouthpiece led to muscle pain, fatigue, tooth discomfort and lip numbness. The customised mouthpiece caused less discomfort and required only half the effort to hold in place.

Jaw fatigue has been linked ear balance problems which could lead to potental diving hazards
