Island Tec Retreats Has New 2016 Dates For Roatan, Palau

Remember back in June when DeeperBlue.com reported on a group of dive resorts around the world offering a really cool series of technical diving events in 2016?

Well, Island Tec Retreats now has new dates for some of its upcoming events.

While the Lions Dive & Beach Resort event in Curacao is still scheduled for May 21-28, 2016, the retreat at the Mayan Princess Resort in Roatan, Honduras is now scheduled for October 8-15.

During that week, Island Tec Retreat staff will be converting the Mayan Divers facility into a complete technical diving center, including bringing in all the gas-blending equipment, demonstration rebreathers and a staff of trainers to help teach participants new techniques and advanced certifications, according to company CEO Bill Coltart:

“The whole week is about introducing emerging technologies to divers who want to expand their horizons and range of experiences. We are trying to break down the barriers that some dive resorts have placed on technical divers in the past. This will be a perfect introduction to technical diving for some, while an extension of training and underwater experiences for others.”

Additionally, technical divers will also be able to get their technical diving groove on at Sam’s Tours in Palau on December 3-10.

No word yet on when Island Tech Retreats will hold its event at Pacific Pro Dive in Vancouver, Canada.

Organizers expect attendance will be between 30-40 divers from around the globe, in additional to local divers and resort staff who will take part.

The company says:

“We’ll be unveiling some new locations, more details and a super exciting Island Tec Retreat Ambassadors page very shortly. We’re incredibly excited about 2016, 2017, 2018.”
