NAUI Supports Boy Scout's National Order of the Arrow Conference

NSG, Inc. proudly announced on 1st March that NAUI Worldwide will support the Boy Scouts of America and a Try Scuba Diving program in conjunction with their 2004 National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC). The bi-annual event gathers over 7,000 Boy Scout Order of the Arrow Members from across the United Sates. The 2004 National Order of the Arrow Conference will be held 31 July-4 August at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, USA.

The five-day event is filled with adventure sports and recreation, personal development and leadership training activities, ceremonial American Indian competitions, and shows with special guests. The "Try Scuba Diving" Program will run for three days with approximately 1,000 pre-registered scouts between the ages of 14 and 21 participating. Participants will be introduced to scuba diving and gain sufficient training so they can scuba dive under the parameters of NAUI?s Try Scuba Diving program.

"The National Order of the Arrow Committee is delighted to work with NAUI for the last six years bringing the opportunity to try this exciting sport to our membership," said Dan Segersin, Vice Chairman of Outdoor Program for the National Committee of the Order of the Arrow, Boy Scouts of America. "We look forward to NAUI’s participation in the 2004 NOAC and are grateful to NAUI for helping to make this happen."

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) is one of the nation’s foremost youth programs of character development and values-based leadership training. The BSA seeks to offer young people responsible fun and adventure; instill lifetime values and ethical character; offer training in citizenship, service, and leadership; and provide a mechanism to serve America’s communities and families. The Order of the Arrow (OA) was founded in 1915, and in 1948 was recognized as the Boy Scouts of America’s national brotherhood of honor campers. Today, the OA is recognized as the BSA’s National Honor Society with more than 181,000 members in the United States.

"NAUI is proud to support the Boys Scouts," said Jim Bram, President of NAUI. "The National Order of the Arrow Conference is a terrific event and we are pleased to be able to provide our support. Many of our members have worked with the Boys Scouts organization over the years, and they appreciate the opportunity to continue to be involved as volunteers for this event."

Along with promotional support, NAUI is providing access to The Scuba Tour pool and volunteer instructors for the event.
