New Atomic SS1 Delivers Breathing Performance of a Primary Regulator

Atomic SS1 Atomic Aquatics has released the SS1, the newest and most technically advanced a safe-second/inflator ever developed. Atomic regulators have become world famous for performance, an innovative design and the use of new, high-tech materials. Those features have been incorporated into this new generation of safe-second/inflators that deliver the same level of performance and reliability found in every Atomic regulator.

Unlike other products in this category, the breathing performance of the SS1 rivals that of high performance second stages, and the exclusive, patented seat-saving orifice insures long life and low maintenance.

While the SS1 is technically a "safe-second", there’s nothing secondary about its construction, design and most of all, its performance. Quite possibly the only secondary regulator actually built like a primary second stage, each SS1 features Atomic’s patented "seat-saving orifice" that not only delivers smooth, efficient breathing at any depth, but also insures long-life and low maintenance.

"In the past, emergency safe-seconds and octopus regulators have not delivered the same breathing performance as a primary second stage. That all changes with the SS1," notes Atomic’s Doug Toth. "We used the same proven design concepts, patented features and standards used in every Atomic primary regulator and created the SS1. The result in a product unlike any other on the market today – period."

Designed to work with virtually any BCD on the market today, the SS1 is built with an ingenious adaptor system. As a result, the SS1 delivers exceptional performance when used with BCDs from manufacturers including Seaquest, Zeagle, Aqualung, Mares, Oceanic, Scubapro and many others.

Atomic’s award-winning design team knows diving. That’s why they engineered the SS1 with a low-profile elliptical design so the unit will lie flat on a BC jacket. The result is more comfortable, streamlined dives with improved performance and comfort. The SS1’s large red inflator buttons are easy to locate and use at any time during a dive – especially if an emergency situation were to arise. The SS1 offers either pneumatic or oral inflation of the BCD for buoyancy control.

Installation of the SS1 takes just a few minutes, but the performance the SS1 will deliver lasts considerably longer. The SS1 carries an unprecedented two-year limited warranty. More importantly, the factory service interval for the SS1 is two years and 300 dives – something no other manufacturer is willing to, or can, match.

The attractive SS1 unit is built from a durable, impact resistant outer housing. Inside, components are made from lightweight Titanium, Zirconium/Nickel-plated brass and 316 stainless steel. Because these materials are used in the SS1, there is virtually no wear or corrosion from the elements.

The SS1 is built with a convenient and unique quick-disconnect feature that allows users to easily remove and store the SS1 assembly separately along with computers, the primary regulator or personal gear.

The SS1, available now from Atomic Aquatics dealers around the world, has a suggested retail price of $220. This includes the SS1 assembly, adapter kit and the unconditional 2-year limited warranty. For more details about the SS1, contact your local Atomic Aquatics retailer.
