Sea Experience scuba diving school has announced a new training program, ECO PRO, set to launch in May 2019.

The new course provides a new outlook and approach to the training of resort professionals and is the brainchild of Dr. Alex Brylske.

According to Bill Cole, the Sea Experience president:

“Dr. Brylske, who not only developed the course but will serve as the lead instructor, will be available in-person to explain and answer questions about ECO PRO. This is a unique opportunity for divers in the northeast to hear from the horse’s mouth why ECO PRO is such an important step in the evolution of a truly sustainable dive travel industry.”

Discussing the new course Dr. Brylske stated:

“ECO PRO is, in essence, an ‘environmental IDC.’ The dive travel industry has undergone tremendous change—mostly associated with degrading ocean resources and changes in consumer characteristics—necessitating a fundamental change in the way we need to prepare professional entering the dive travel industry.”

The new course takes eight intensive days to complete with both in-water and classroom presentations. Areas covered by the course include:

  • Merging Business and the Environment: A Guide to Marketing Sustainability
  • Coral Reef Ecology for Diving Professional
  • Environmental Interpretation: From Tourist to Advocate

The course also incorporates certification as a Reef Check Eco diver, which allows members to participate and contribute to a global environmental database.
