New ‘Eq-Tool’ Aims To Help Improve Equalization Technique

-

If you’re a freediver or scuba diver looking to improve your equalization techniques, there’s a new gadget being crowdfunded for just that purpose.

The Eq-Tool is a digital device developed to improve equalization skills. It gently blows air into a nostril, opening the eustachean tube and making the eardrum vibrate. The amount of air pressure you apply can be increased or decreased depending on need and is measured by a wireless sensor connected to a smartphone or tablet.

As the Eq-Tool’s Kickstarter page states,

“Training and optimizing your equalization techniques such as advanced or sequential Frenzel and the Mouthfill, as well as improving the air flow to the upper airway with the reverse packing or the abdominal contractions will be possible with your Eq-Tool.”

The accompanying smartphone app is Android and iOS compatible and the part that fits onto the nostril is hypoallergenic, washable and will be available in three sizes: 20mm, 22mm and 25mm (.79 inches, .87 inches and .98 inches).

The Eq-Tool will be initially available in two colors, but that color range could expand if its Italian-based developers, Uba Project, exceed their original 18,000-Euro/US$19,134 goal and hit some stretch goals.

For more information, check out the video below or go to the Uba Project’s Kickstarter Page.
