New Zealander Breaks Freshwater Free Dive Record

Ant Williams broke the New Zealand freshwater free diving record in Lake Wakatipu shortly before 2:30pm. Williams dived 45m on a single breath of air.

The dive took 1 minute and 20 seconds, faster than even Williams had expected. Williams ran into some difficulties when the underwater torches to light the way failed at the 20 meter and 30 meter depths…

Williams usually counts the torches to track his depth. He can hold his breath for 5min 21sec and recently broke another New Zealand record by swimming 160m on one breath.
