Next PADI Women’s Dive Day To Take Place July 15, 2017

PADI has announced its plans in the lead-up to its now-annual Women’s Dive Day.

This year’s event will be held at PADI dive centers and resorts worldwide on July 15, celebrating women divers and aiming to narrow the gender gap in diving.

Related activities began on March 8th, in celebration of International Women’s Day with a series of blog articles, social media posts and videos featuring inspirational testimonials from female PADI professionals and divers going live from now through July.

According to PADI:

“For the past two years, dive industry partners have come together to attract new women to the sports of scuba diving and freediving, as well as motivate certified female divers to get in the water and continue their dive training. Through the enthusiasm and participation of PADI Members and the dive industry as a whole, this growing tradition has continued to gain momentum, further strengthening and supporting the female dive community.”

More than 700 events in 77 countries took place to celebrate Women’s Dive Day on July 16, 2016. Those events included shark dives and marine education courses, an underwater Olympics and a sprint by Team Sedna — a 10-woman expedition team — to dive all five of the U.S. Great Lakes in just 24 hours.

As a result, PADI says it saw a reduction in the certification gender gap.
