Our World Underwater Show Merges Together with 2005 Chicagoland Outdoors Show

The 26th annual Chicagoland Outdoors Show will team up with the 35th annual Our World-Underwater (OW-U) to host the most encompassing consumer exposition highlighting the adventures and natural wonders to be discovered in the great outdoors. OW-U will co-locate within the largest sport fishing consumer show in the greater Chicago area, granting enthusiasts the opportunity to explore leisure-sport and travel activities above and below water. Setting camp at the Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill., near Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport from Wednesday, Jan. 12 through Sunday, Jan. 16, the 26th annual Chicagoland Outdoors Show is one of the largest consumer events in the Midwest. Not only can attendees see, feel, test and purchase the newest products from fishing manufacturers; shop for boats, recreational vehicles, sports utility and all-terrain vehicles; participate in educational seminars and activities; and plan outdoor-oriented vacations to more than 200 destinations, they also can dive into the amazing world of aquatic life.

Based partly on the overwhelming response to the introduction of diving at the 2004 Chicagoland Outdoors Show held this past January with the new Scuba Tour, Chicagoland Outdoors Show owner and producer Reed Exhibitions recognized that despite below-freezing temperatures outside, attendees were excited to take the plunge when certified diving instructors led patrons through free underwater test-dives in the heated 25,000-gallon Portable Splash Superpool.

"With Chicagoland Outdoors Show attendance up 10 percent in 2004, we look forward to the synergy created by this natural marriage. Comfortable with boats and water sports, our show attendees are predisposed to leisure travel involving these essentials. Both audiences are relaxed, happy and passionate about spending time on the water," explains Sandy Pochapin, marketing director, Reed Exhibitions.

"OW-U is thrilled to join forces with Reed Exhibitions to create a truly, one-of-a-kind event with all outdoor leisure-time activities represented. We are looking forward to helping scuba diving fans plan their escapes in January as opposed to April — a sure cure for Chicago cabin fever. In addition, many of the travel exhibitors in OW-U can promote specialty fishing at their destinations, which will create cross-marketing opportunities within exhibitor booths," explains Patrick Hammer, owner, Our World-Underwater.

The 35th annual Our World-Underwater dive and travel exhibition is the largest dive and adventure show in North America. Dive industry retailers, equipment manufacturers, resort operators, environmental organizations and major training agencies from around the world will anchor in Rosemont to meet more than tens of thousands of divers and outdoor adventure enthusiasts from January 12-16, 2005. While planning an underwater adventure, other points of interest include: world’s finest underwater photography and video displayed throughout, workshops covering aspects of diving, and an underwater film festival.

The Chicagoland Outdoors Show is one of 13 sports and recreation shows produced by Reed Exhibitions. Reed Exhibitions (NYSE: RUK:ENL) is the world leader in creating high profile, targeted industry events where buyers and suppliers come together to do business.
