ScubaPro Introduces New Mantis Dive Computer

-

ScubaPro this week announced its entry into the wearable technology area with the introduction of its new Mantis dive computer.

The wristwatch-syle Mantis dive computer comes with a host of features, including the ability to monitor heart rate and other biometric data.

The Mantis sports an “adaptive algorithm” that not only factors in the usual data like bottom time, depth and gas mix, but also breathing rate, heart rate and skin temperature (via a chest strap that will be available by the end of this year) to calculate the safest decompression times.

The new dive computer also can handle up to three gas mixes, from 21 percent nitrox to 100-percent oxygen and can be used for rebreather diving. It has four underwater modes: “Gauge,” “Deco,” “CCR” and “Apnea,” and also features a stroke counter for use when swimming laps along with a calorie counter that’s synced to the diver’s heart rate.

The Mantis retails for $599. Check with your local dive shop that carries ScubaPro gear to see if they have it available or need to order it.
