Marine Park Officials have finally put mooring buoys onto the wreck of the Spiegel Grove and all looks set for divers to have the chance to experience the largest purposely sunk ship in the world to create an artificial reef. The Spiegel Grove has attracted much attention since the ill fated attempt to sink her in May which suffered serious problems and then a conservation scare when oil was detected in the water dribbling up from the wreck.
The eight year project has seen costs exceed $1 million, it is hoped that more than 50,000 divers a year will visit the wreck. A dedication ceremony is planned for Wednesday June 26
