SSI Launches New Decompression Specialty

-

Scuba Schools International has announced the launch of a new Decompression Diving Specialty.

The new SSI Decompression Diving Specialty is not a full-on technical diving course but aims to give recreational divers the knowledge and skills to conduct very limited decompression diving.

The course is not designed to replace technical training. Instead, it is intended to act as a gateway to technical diving by offering recreational divers a taste of the decompression diving world. The new course trains divers to meet the following criteria:

  • Perform decompression dives using recreational or Sidemount dive gear.
  • Certified to a maximum depth of 40 meters (131 feet).
  • Accumulate a maximum of 15 minutes of decompression.

Instructors with a minimum rating of SSI Extended Range Nitrox, SSI CCR Extended Range, or SSI SCR Extended Range Instructor can sign up online for a free upgrade.
