The DEMA 2002 Show – Introduction

The first Diving Equipment & Marketing Association (DEMA) trade show convened in Miami, Florida in 1977. The show established itself as a neutral ground where individuals representing various areas of the dive industry could meet to share ideas and discuss the current issues surrounding recreational diving.

The trade show was so successful that an organisation was created. This is now the modern DEMA who helps support the dive industry and boast several thousand members (including this every publication).

DEMA continues to organize this annual national (and international) trade show. The show currently attracts over 15,000 attendees worldwide who gather to explore the New Products Pavilion, the demonstration swimming poll, education seminars, technical displays and world-renowned guest speakers, which have included Dr. Sylvia Earle, Jacques Cousteau and others.

This year the Show will have a large number of DeeperBlue.net staff attending the event to bring you the very best news and views from the show floor. Since this is a trade show we will be able to provide you details of latest trends and advances in Scuba, FreeDiving and Technical fields. We have our resident Editors for all three sections (Nick, Cliff and John respectively) reporting during the week and i’ll be on hand as the Master of Cermonies bringing it all together, plus reports on the antics of us and others before and after the show…

So, join us now in October as the DeeperBlue.net DEMA month!
