Gates Underwater Products announces the availability of their new MC200 and F717 housings, specifically designed for the Canon Optura 200mc/MVX2i camcorders and Sony F717 camera, respectively. Both new housing introductions are instilled with Gates legendary reliable construction, yet contain rich new features appealing to a wide variety of users.
The MC200 housing is rooted in the popular PC-series housing from Gates, which allow the camera LCD to be open as the underwater viewfinder – no need to buy extra external monitors to capture stunning images. A tiny traveler, the MC200 requires little luggage space, yet can accommodate the largest Canon battery for maximum shooting time. And the MC200 has fingertip controls for easy, effortless imaging.
The F717 is the sibling to the highly successful Gates F707 housing. Available in standard and pro versions, the F717 has several lighting options including NiteRider HID video lights or the Gates F1000ES dedicated flash unit, which is directly and actively controlled by the Sony DSC-F717 camera. Now with the F717, underwater photographers have a third option — using any Nikonos-compatible underwater strobe unit. Owners of Nikonos-compatible strobes can connect them with the new F717 housing and receive flash synchronization from the Sony DSC-F717 camera.
Accessories to both new housing products include the Multi Port" system, allowing dynamic lens changes underwater. A diver can quickly and effortlessly change lenses while submerged and adapt to rapidly changing conditions and opportunities.
