Underwater film festival to be held in Roatan in April

If underwater videography is your passion, you might want to get to Roatan this coming April.

Turquoise Bay Resort will hold the inaugural Turquoise Bay International Underwater Film Festival in Roatan, Honduras from April 9 to 16.

Emmy-winning underwater cinematographer Jonathan Bird will serve as the celebrity guest host for the event.

Canadians Michel Labrecque and Julie Ouimet are co-owners of N2Pix and are the founders of the festival. They used to own a PADI 5-Star instructor development center.

If you go, you’ll have the chance to show off your video skills while enjoying great diving, informative seminars and a line-up of underwater films that will be viewed during the gala event where winners of the weeklong competition will be announced.

That competition is open to all levels, so you don’t have to be a pro to enter. You’ll also get the chance to learn from professional cinematographers.

If you already have a film, the deadline for submitting it for showing at the gala is March 1.
