Unique Spearo Competition Promotes Good Cooking, Ocean Conservation

Are you a spearo that likes to come up with different ways of cooking the fish you’ve speared? Well, a new competition scheduled for this coming November in Monterey, California aims to do just that.

The inaugural Monterey Catch and Cook Competition will be held November 9th, 2019. It’s a family-friendly event organized by ocean lovers to raise funds for ocean conservation while encouraging sustainable fishing practices. Competitors will be required to spear a fish and then cook it in a novel way.

Tickets to the competition are available for US$40 (~36 Euros) at Monterey Bamboo Reef Dive Shop or Monterey Bay Kayaks. All proceeds will go to Save Our Shores, and they will be organizing a beach cleanup on the day of the event for anyone who would like to join.

You can hear more about the event on Episode 101 of the Noob Spearo Podcast, or check out the competition rules on Facebook.
