A new freediving organization has been formed in the United States and is gaining support within the American freedive community.
The newly formed United States Apnea Association (USAA) announced today that the International Association for the Development of Apnea (AIDA) by choice, the leading governing body for competitive freediving in the world, accepted by a vote of 17 Yes and 1 No, to allow the affiliation of USAA with AIDA by its Delegates Assembly.
The vote took place the first week of July and this decision now paves the way for the USAA to actively begin promoting and fostering the sport of freediving in the United States.
"This is an exciting day for freediving in the United States" said USAA President Matthew Briseno. "I am excited for the freediver who has long awaited the opportunity to be a part of, and work for an organization that works for them. I couldn’t be prouder of the Founding Members who stepped up to the plate and in a short time have created an organization that is fun and exciting for the freediver to be a part off. Our website is awesome, take a look and become a part of something fun!"
Everyone is welcome to join the USAA and become a part of a great organization dedicated to further the promotion and development of the sport of freediving, both recreationally and competitively within the United States and abroad.
The USAA is registered with the State Of Hawaii as a Non-Profit Organization, dedicated to fostering the growth of freediving in the United States and is currently seeking membership.
