World Class Freediver to Carry Olympic Torch

“U.S. Female Freediver, Annabel Briseno, was selected for the Olympic Torch Relay a few months ago. Her day is fast approaching. To give an idea of what an honor it is to be chosen, 210,000 applications were sent in. Of that, 5.4% were selected, .18% of those chosen are from Hawaii, 21 in all, 19 from the Island of Oahu and 2 from the Island of Kona, where she resides with her husband, Matt Briseno, who is himself a top athlete in the sport of freediving. She will be representing Women Athletes, in UWH, Freediving and is now taking up Spearfishing. She is honored to have been chosen to run along the waterfront in Monterey CA.

The time and date for Annabel’s Olympic Torch Relay Segment will be Thursday January 17, 2002 In Monterey CA. She starts her segment at 5:25 PM right in downtown Monterey. She runs on Lighthouse Ave from Bolio Rd to Artillery St. right on the Water Front.
