“Yasemin has just returned from the training trip to Jamaica. Accompanied by her trainer Rudi, Yasemin spent 10 days diving in the Blue Lagoon, Port Antonio, located on the North Eastern coast of Jamaica. Yasemin and Rudi performed 2-3 dives per day fine tuning her technique for her upcoming record attempts in Greece. Yasemin worked on both the Unassisted Constant Ballast category and the Equipment Assisted Constant Ballast category. The Unassisted category, which requires the diver to swim down and up without any assistance from fins or a line, is a type of freediving that Yasemin is trying for the first time. In the Equipment Assisted category, Yasemin has already set her first world record in November of 1999 to a depth of 68 meters/223 feet. During the last week of October, Yasemin will try to set two new records in these categories in the Greek island of Kos.
Diving and logistical support in Jamaica was provided by Lady G’Diver, owned and operated by Jan Lee. Jan’s son David Lee, who is also Yasemin’s training partner and also a trainee of Rudi, will join Yasemin in Greece to attempt a world record of his own. Good luck to both Yasemin and David!
