The Ocean Impact Organisation (OIO) will announce the 12 Ocean Impact Pitchfest 2021 Finalists next week.
The Ocean Impact Pitchfest is a global campaign calling for applications from the best startups and innovative solutions to help improve the health of the ocean, and the finalists will be announced on Tuesday, October 12th, 2021.
This year also saw the debut of the HP Generation Impact Incubator, a program for young innovators (aged 35 and under) residing in Australia working on an ocean-saving solution.
The Ocean Impact Pitchfest, now in its second year, will distribute over A$150,000 (~US$109,105/~94,349 Euros) in cash prizes, including $50,000 for the Pitchfest winner and $150,000 worth of additional products and support.
Some key highlights from the seven-week campaign are:
• 215 applications to The Ocean Impact Pitchfest 2021
• 84 applications to the inaugural HP Generation Impact Incubator (for young, 35yrs and under innovators residing in Australia)
• 45 countries
• Key ocean challenges and solutions include: climate solutions; ocean harvesting solutions; ocean energy solutions; transportation solutions; biodiversity solutions; ocean monitoring solutions; coral reef solutions; ocean literacy solutions and plastic pollution solutions.
