The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation To Hold Its Ocean Awards Gala

-

The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation has announced that it will be holding its annual Ocean Awards Gala virtually this year.

The event will take place on June 10, 2021. It will be recorded to allow people across the various time zones to view it. The gala is scheduled to last for 30 minutes, with many local events and gatherings taking place afterward.

This year, the gala honors the efforts taken by everybody to protect the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. The Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument was established in 2007, and in 2010 it was designated as a world heritage site. Finally, it became one of the world’s largest marine protected areas after its expansion in 2016.
